Werner Höllriegl, Sr. Director, Head Pharmacology DD Austria at Takeda Graduated in Veterinary Medicine and worked as an assistant in anesthesia at the University of Veterinary Medicine for 4 years, also participating in preclinical and clinical research. After one year in charge of medical care of a large primate colony at Baxter AG and collaborating in the design of a new primate accommodation at the Safaripark Gänserndorf, and one year of primate management training at the University of Texas, he entered the pharmaceutical industry in 2004, and worked as medical advisor (clinical) for AstraZeneca for one year, then Head of Laboratory Animal Services at Novartis for 3 years. Joined Baxter Innovations in July 2008, as Senior Manager responsible for animal pharmacokinetics, efficacy, safety pharmacology, toxicology, immunogenicity and experimental surgery studies for biopharmaceuticals and medical devices. After merging of three preclinical departments in 2012, he led a larger team of supervisors, research associates and scientists. With increasing responsibilities, he became Sr. Director and is currently leading Pharmacology within Takeda’s Drug Discovery Austria hub.
