Gustavo S. Luengo received his Ph.D. from the Physical Chemistry Department at the Complutense University, Madrid (SPAIN) in 1993, His industrial experience started as a lubricant researcher at REPSOL Oil Co. (Spain) followed by a postdoctoral academic position at the Department of Chemical Enginnering, University of California, Santa Barbara (USA) with Professor Jacob Israelachvili on Surfaces and Tribology Science.  In 2000 he went back to Industry joining L’OREAL Research (Aulnay sous Bois, FRANCE) as lab manager of a Nanophysics and Electron Microscopy laboratory. During 10 years he was pioneer on the application of scanning probe techniques to the understanding of the properties of cosmetic substrates (hair and skin) and its interaction with materials and polymers in particular.  He is currently a Research Expert for L’OREAL in the areas of Surface Science, Polymer Physics, Physical Chemistry and Biophysics of hair and skin and as part of his missions he initiates and scientifically manages research programs for L’OREAL with universities worldwide. He has been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences, author of more of 60 peer-reviewed publications, 5 patents, and contributed to several edited textbooks. Member of several scientific societies an in particular the Colloids and Surface Science Division of the American Chemical Society, he also serves as editorial board of the journal Biotribology and is board member of the French Polymer Group. Interested to bring industry and academia closer he also participates punctually to different university teaching programs,
