Dr. Prieto is a researcher specialized in encapsulation technology at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research, Paterna (Valencia), Spain. She gained her PhD in chemical engineering from the Complutense University of Madrid (2017) investigating the process development and scale-up of the supercritical fluid extraction of emulsions technology to nanoencapsulate liquid lipophilic bioactive compounds. Cristina joined the Novel Materials and Nanotechnology laboratory from the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology in 2017 as a post-doc. Cristina’s research is multi-disciplinary and focuses on process development as well as design of practical solutions for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries through bioactive and drug encapsulation based on the electrohydrodynamic technology. Cristina has received two Ph.D. awards (Flucomp Ph.D. award, Complutense University Extraordinary Ph.D. award). She has disseminated her research through more than 40 contributions in peer review papers, books and international conferences, receiving some of them quality recognition awards. She has been Guest Editor of the special issue of Nanomaterials to Enhance Food Quality, Safety, and Health Impact from the Nanomaterials Journal. She has developed one patent, and has collaborated in more than 10 competitive R&D projects.
